Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced on Monday that the investigation into the Air India AI-171 crash is advancing towards its final stages. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has been tasked with the probe, which began after the aircraft tragically crashed shortly post-takeoff from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12 last year, resulting in 260 fatalities, including 229 passengers, 12 crew members, and 19 on the ground.

Minister Naidu emphasized the importance of adhering to international investigation protocols, explaining, "AAIB is meticulously following the established protocol. They are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation, and the final report is anticipated soon." The minister's comments reflect the AAIB’s commitment to methodical examination, rather than an expedited process.

The AAIB reported on Friday significant progress in examining aircraft systems, analyzing flight recorder data, and assessing engine-related components. The comprehensive investigation has included examination of technical, operational, organizational, and human factors. The bureau is conducting a thorough, evidence-based analysis, with further technical evaluations as necessary, to ensure well-supported conclusions.

Continuing its dedication to transparency, the AAIB has stated that the final report will undergo international review following ICAO Annex 13 guidelines. Offering condolences, the bureau acknowledged the loss suffered by families and others affected by the tragedy. (ANI)
