The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) achieved a significant milestone on Monday by successfully conducting a flight-test of the Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). The test took place at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the coast of Odisha.

An official press release confirmed that the trial met all test objectives, with comprehensive data collected by various tracking instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, attesting to the missile's capabilities.

The LRLACM is the result of indigenous development efforts, involving subsystems created by multiple DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners, with the Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru, serving as the nodal laboratory. Distinguished officials from DRDO and representatives from the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force attended the launch. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh extended their congratulations to the DRDO team and industry collaborators for the feat.
