In a significant development in Punjab's ongoing crackdown on narcotics, Bathinda Police announced the arrest of two individuals, including an advocate, in a case involving heroin and methamphetamine recovery. The arrests reflect intensified efforts under the state's anti-drug campaign.
Superintendent of Police Narinder Singh revealed that Rohit Sharma, an advocate, and his associate Gurpreet Singh, alias Dimpy, were detained after authorities intercepted their vehicle. Police seized 13.5 grams of methamphetamine, also known as 'ice', and 14 grams of heroin during the operation.
An FIR has been lodged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, marking the drugs as non-commercial quantities. Singh indicated the contraband was traced back to a Delhi supplier, prompting an expanded investigation to dismantle the drug operation and explore monetary motives.
