A devastating incident in Kanchipuram district has sparked an outcry regarding safety issues in Tamil Nadu. A 32-year-old migrant worker from West Bengal was apprehended by police after allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in Aadhanur village near Manimangalam.

The accused allegedly led the victim to a secluded place near his thatched home where the assault occurred. Residents detained and assaulted him before he was handed over to local authorities for further investigation which is ongoing. This incident follows another tragic case where a three-year-old girl from Tiruvallur district died after an alleged sexual assault.

Prominent political figures, including Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran, have criticized the state administration for failing to guarantee citizen safety. In the first twenty days of the month, 48 crimes against women have been reported, raising serious concerns over public security. Meanwhile, DMK leader Anbil Mahesh condemned the events and urged swift, decisive action.
