In a tragic incident on Tuesday morning, a 71-year-old temple trustee, Kailash Modi, was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The violence reportedly erupted near a Gurudwara entrance in Gurunanak Colony, under the Annapurna police station jurisdiction.
Police have detained Mukesh Sharma, the accused, who shares a troubled history with the victim, primarily over his addiction to alcohol. According to the police, Sharma and his brothers previously resided on the premises of the Barah Mattha Temple, where Modi served as trustee and president. However, ongoing conflicts led to Sharma being barred from the temple, forcing him to live on a footpath nearby.
On Tuesday morning, another altercation ensued when Modi visited the temple premises, eventually leading to Sharma assaulting Modi with a stick. The attack proved fatal. The police have taken Sharma into custody and registered a case, while further investigations into the incident continue. (ANI)
