The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has said that Pakistan has succeeded in internationalizing the issue of Kashmir. according to news agency ANI.

He said, "We have succeeded in internationalizing the issue of Kashmir, we talked to world leaders and embassies."

"UN for the first time since 1965, convened a meeting on Kashmir issue. Even international media has picked it up," he further added.

Today on Aug 28, US President Donald Trump after meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during that Kashmir issue is a bilateral issue and India's Modi has 'it under control' in Kashmir.

While addressing to the people of Pakistan Imran Khan said, "I will speak at the UN General Assembly on September 27 and highlight the Kashmir issue on the world stage."

Pakistan requested the Security Council meeting on 13 August, and it was subsequently called for by Permanent Member, China. Pakistan got the backing of China only

Russia, India's long term ally maintained its consistent position on the Kashmir issue at the UN and said that it did not support open or formal UN Security Council (UNSC) session on the matter. 

A senior Russian diplomat told media at the UN following Aug 16 closed-door session that Kashmir issue is bilateral in nature between India and Pakistan.
