Angola receives biosafety and hospital materials for 50,000 diagnostic tests

Angola has received 26 tons of various biosafety and hospital materials on My 23, mostly reagents for 50,000 diagnostic tests to boost measures to prevent and combat COVID-19.

The batch is part of 380-ton equipment from China, that includes ventilators, surgical masks, N95 masks (in current use), biosafety suits, glasses, beds, RTPCR testing equipment, gowns, and gloves.

The minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, who was at the airport to receive the materials said that the country has received so far 160 tones, of the 380 acquired from China.

She has said that the country will conduct 50,000 tests to expand the screening capacity of disease.

Sílvia Lutucuta spoke of the need to protect all health professionals, amongst technicians, who are involved in active search.

Silvia Lutucuta explained that the materials have already been distributed throughout the country's 18 provinces, with the partnership of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), in particular the National Air Force (FAN).

Still, on Saturday, a contingent of about eight tons of various biosafety materials arrived in Angola. The third donation from the "Jack Ma Foundation", in the ambit of the fight against this pandemic.

Angola has 61 positive cases, four deaths, 18 recovered, and 40 active cases.
