The death toll from the Puri firecracker explosion in Odisha has reached 15, with 12 individuals still receiving treatment in hospitals. The death toll in the Puri firecracker explosion rose to 15, according to a statement issued by the special relief commissioner on Wednesday. Two more persons have succumbed to their injuries.
Currently, 12 out of the 36 individuals injured are being treated in hospitals across Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack. Nine others have been discharged.
The tragic explosion occurred during Lord Jagannath's 'Chandan Yatra' ritual on May 29. An administrative probe led by SRC Satyabrata Sahu is ongoing. The Puri collector has initiated ex gratia payments of Rs 4 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased.
