Tragic Incident: Three Die from Poisonous Gas in Tripura Well

Three individuals died in Tripura's Sepahijala district after inhaling poisonous gas while cleaning a well. Villagers had decided to clean the well due to water scarcity. Despite rescue efforts, the workers were declared dead at the hospital. The exact cause will be determined post-mortem.

In a tragic incident in Tripura's Sepahijala district, three individuals lost their lives after inhaling poisonous gas from a well they were cleaning, authorities disclosed on Sunday.

The unfortunate event occurred on Saturday morning on the premises of Neoramura J B School, where villagers initiated the well-cleaning operation due to severe water scarcity in Sonamura.

According to SDPO (Sonamura) Sashi Mohan Debbarma, one laborer first descended into the well and when he failed to respond, two others followed. All three were subsequently found unconscious and declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Preliminary findings suggest suffocation due to the toxic atmosphere inside the well, pending further confirmation post-mortem.
