The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed several distinguished individuals to key positions within the National Medical Commission (NMC) and its Autonomous Boards. The appointments are for a period of four years, until the appointee attains the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is earliest.
The newly appointed members are as follows:
Dr. B.N. Gangadhar has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Medical Commission. Dr. Gangadhar previously served as the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board. His appointment is in accordance with Section 4 of the NMC Act, 2019.
Dr. Sanjay Behari has been appointed as the President of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board. Dr. Behari is currently the Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology in Thiruvananthapuram. His appointment is in line with Section 17(2) of the NMC Act, 2019.
Dr. Anil D'Cruz has been appointed as a whole-time member of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Board. Dr. D'Cruz serves as the Director (Oncology) at Apollo Hospital, Mumbai. His appointment also adheres to Section 17(2) of the NMC Act, 2019.
Additionally, the ACC has appointed Dr. Rajendra Achyut Badwe as a part-time member of the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board for a period of two years. Dr. Badwe is a Professor Emeritus at Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai. His appointment will continue until he attains the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is earliest.
These appointments reflect the ACC's commitment to ensuring that the NMC and its Autonomous Boards are led by highly qualified and experienced medical professionals, thus enhancing the quality of medical education and healthcare in India.
