The Resident Doctors' Association of GTB Hospital, engaged in an indefinite strike demanding enhanced security measures following a shooting incident, called off their protest after receiving assurances from the Delhi government.
A meeting was convened with Danish Ashraf, Special Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, GNCTD, along with RDA members, the MD of GTBH, and other officials to address the security concerns.
Key decisions from the meeting include the implementation of a two-layer security system, installation of metal detectors, police rounds, rapid response teams, and armed guards to secure entry points and critical areas.
Further measures include proper emergency exit systems, effective CCTV coverage, recruitment of essential staff, provision of sufficient waiting areas, and strict enforcement of entry passes for patient relatives.
The strike, which began at 9 am on Monday, disrupted routine patient care in non-emergency areas. The action came after a 32-year-old man was shot dead in a mistaken identity case inside the hospital.
