Russian Forces Capture Urozhaine: Ukraine Withholds Comment

Russian forces, led by Valery Gerasimov, have captured the village of Urozhaine in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region. While Ukrainian officials haven't commented on the control of the village, unofficial bloggers suggest Ukrainian forces have withdrawn. The capture follows a series of strategic advancements by Russian troops in the area.

Russian forces, under the command of General Valery Gerasimov, have successfully taken control of the village of Urozhaine in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, the Russian Defence Ministry announced on Tuesday.

Ukraine has yet to officially comment on the status of Urozhaine, but Ukrainian bloggers have acknowledged the withdrawal of their troops from the village, as well as from another contested location in the Kherson region. The capture of Urozhaine follows a pattern of recent Russian successes in the Donetsk region, including the strategic city of Avdiivka.

The Russian Defence Ministry first claimed the capture of Urozhaine on Sunday, stating that Gerasimov had received a briefing from the commander of the 'east' group of forces. Unverified reports suggest Russian forces have planted their flag on the Urozhaine administration building. Meanwhile, Ukraine's General Staff did not mention Urozhaine but reported ongoing fighting in other areas of the Donetsk region.
