The district government hospital currently under construction in Velampalayam will be upgraded to a 100-bedded facility, announced Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma Subramanian on Sunday.
Originally envisaged as an 86-bedded establishment, the hospital is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and will include an out-patient ward, intensive care unit, labor and delivery ward, surgery hall, and dialysis unit. Considering requests and the district's diverse population, the decision was made to expand the facility to 100 beds, Subramanian stated.
The hospital's construction is expected to complete within a month and a half, with plans for inauguration by Chief Minister M K Stalin, Subramanian informed. Additionally, primary healthcare centres are planned for all 24 villages in Tiruppur, with sub-health centres also in the works.
