In a separate report, the Labor Department announced that the number of Americans filing new unemployment claims for the week ending August 10 fell to 227,000, compared with an estimated 235,000. This positive news further fueled market optimism.
As a result, at 8:30 a.m. ET, Dow E-minis increased by 249 points or 0.62%, S&P 500 E-minis rose by 30.75 points or 0.56%, and Nasdaq 100 E-minis climbed by 124.5 points or 0.65%.
