Alkem Laboratories Partners with Takeda for Vonoprazan Commercialization in India

Alkem Laboratories has signed a patent licensing agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to bring Vonoprazan, a medication for gastric and duodenal ulcers, to the Indian market. This collaboration aims to offer a novel treatment option for patients suffering from gastro-related ailments in India.

Alkem Laboratories announced on Monday that it has entered into a patent licensing agreement with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company to commercialize Vonoprazan in the Indian market.

Vonoprazan, available in strengths of 10 and 20 mg, is prescribed for conditions such as reflux esophagitis (RE), gastric ulcers, and duodenal ulcers.

"The company has a strong presence in the gastrointestinal segment, and this non-exclusive patent license with Takeda will enable us to offer a novel treatment mechanism for a large number of patients in India suffering from gastrointestinal issues," said Vikas Gupta, CEO of Alkem Laboratories, in a statement.

On Monday, the shares of Alkem Laboratories closed 1.66% lower at Rs 6,065.15 on the BSE.
