CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury remains under medical care at AIIMS, where he was admitted last week for a lung infection, informed sources revealed on Thursday.
Yechury, aged 72, was initially admitted to the emergency ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on August 19. Following initial treatment, he was transferred to the intensive care unit, where he continues to receive medical attention.
The exact nature of his illness has not been disclosed by the hospital, but Yechury was admitted due to a pneumonia-like infection. It was also noted that he had recently undergone cataract surgery. A dedicated team of doctors is monitoring his progress.
