Surgical Needle Left in Head Sparks Outrage in Hapur

A family in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, has accused a government facility of leaving a surgical needle in a young woman's head after receiving stitches. The incident occurred in Nanai village, prompting an investigation by health officials. Allegations against the attending doctor include negligence and intoxication.

A serious medical incident has rocked the village of Nanai in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh, where a family alleged that a surgical needle was inadvertently left in a young woman's head after she received stitches at a local government clinic.

The event occurred following a dispute in which 22-year-old Sitara, daughter of Siyakat Khan, was injured. After being treated at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Gadh, Sitara continued to suffer severe pain. A private doctor subsequently discovered the needle lodged in her head.

Allegations have been made that the attending doctor was intoxicated at the time. The Chief Medical Officer, Dr Sunil Tyagi, has launched an investigation and a two-member team has been appointed to look into the matter. Tyagi assured that action would be taken based on the inquiry's findings.
