Merck Foundation, the charitable wing of Merck KGaA Germany, has marked International Women's Day 2025 in collaboration with the First Ladies of Africa and Asia. The foundation's initiatives, including the 'More Than a Mother' campaign and a robust scholarship program, are aimed at empowering women and tackling the stigma surrounding infertility.
Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation, highlighted their achievements, stating that 1046 out of 2230 medical scholarships have been granted to female medical graduates from 52 countries. This effort underscores the foundation's commitment to enhancing reproductive care and breaking infertility stigma, particularly in regions where such stigmas are pervasive.
The foundation has also supported over 680 scholarships in embryology, fertility, and reproductive care across Africa and Asia, fostering the development of local experts. Merck's outreach extends to raising awareness through media training and cultural projects, including children's storybooks, songs, and a TV show.
