A shocking revelation has surfaced in the case of the RG Kar hospital rape and murder victim. A consultant psychiatrist stated that the victim, who died in August last year, was under acute mental stress and had approached him for professional help a month before her death.
The psychiatrist, Mohit Ranadip, disclosed to a leading Bengali TV channel that the victim was burdened by long duty hours, unfair shift allocations, and the distress of witnessing irregularities in hospital operations. Dr. Ranadip mentioned that despite planning follow-up counseling sessions, they never transpired.
As the CBI investigates the case, the court has ordered the central agency to produce its case diary. Allegations of possible gang rape and evidence tampering have surfaced. Meanwhile, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, associated with hospital irregularities, was arrested, and former civic volunteer Sanjay Roy was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime.
