Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu robustly defended the implementation of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model in the establishment of new medical colleges in the state. He argued that this strategy would ensure superior services and maintain government oversight.
Addressing the fifth collectors conference, Naidu tackled the controversy surrounding the development of ten medical colleges under the PPP model, a decision that faced strong opposition from the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He clarified that although the colleges are built through this model, they will function as government institutions.
Naidu also criticized the former YSRCP government for financial mismanagement, citing a Rs 500 crore expenditure on the 'Rushikonda Palace' which he claimed could have funded multiple colleges. He called out bureaucratic inefficiencies, particularly in the Revenue Department, urging officials to avoid exploiting system loopholes.
