An 18-year-old boy from Gujarat has been given a new lease on life following a debilitating farming accident, thanks to a groundbreaking procedure in Mumbai.
Priyank Aghera lost both hands in January while assisting his father with cotton harvesting. The life-changing bilateral hand transplant was performed at Nanavati Max Super Speciality Hospital by Dr. Nilesh Satbhai and his team.
The complex 13-hour surgery was made possible by the consent of a family in Surat who donated the hands of their late 50-year-old relative. Although organ donation awareness has grown, hand donations remain rare, emphasizing the impact of such generosity in transforming lives.
