A 45-year-old woman from Satara district in Maharashtra, who was rescued in a distressed condition along a national highway in Udupi approximately a month ago, has been successfully reunited with her family. This follows her recovery from a mental health episode, as officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The woman was found wandering along the Ambalapady stretch of National Highway 66 at night in February. She was subsequently placed in safe custody, thanks to the timely intervention of social worker Vishu Shetty. Shetty noticed her precarious situation and promptly arranged for her transfer to a shelter facility.
Following her rescue, the woman was admitted to the district hospital, where doctors provided her with medical care and counselling.
