On Thursday, Congress leader Ashok Gehlot asserted that Rajasthan has emerged as a frontrunner in healthcare across the nation. He highlighted the state's advances with initiatives such as the 'Right to Health' law and the 'Chiranjeevi' insurance scheme as models that have significantly transformed access to healthcare in Rajasthan.

Gehlot, visiting Kerala for the Congress-led UDF campaign ahead of the Assembly polls, contrasted Rajasthan's progress with what he described as a decline in Kerala's public health system under the Left government's mismanagement. He claimed that the 'Chiranjeevi' insurance scheme has provided cashless treatment to numerous families and significantly reduced their financial burden.

Rajasthan's healthcare model has reportedly outperformed national averages, achieving high insurance coverage and improving critical health indicators like vaccination rates, maternal and infant mortality. Gehlot underscored their pioneering role in introducing a 'Right to Health' law, pointing to the availability of free medicines, treatments, and diagnostics as key successes.
