An elderly couple in Kerala experienced a frightening incident on Friday night when a short circuit in their air conditioner ignited a fire, fully engulfing their bedroom.
The couple had recently turned in for the night when the AC fire erupted, according to officials from the Pathanamthitta fire station. Quick-thinking neighbors assisted by removing gas cylinders from the home, preventing a potential escalation.
Firefighters managed to contain the blaze, sparing the rest of the house and nearby residences from damage. The couple had not serviced their air conditioner in two years, only using it for a few hours each night.
