AIIMS Delhi has announced a temporary leadership transition, appointing Dr. Nikhil Tandon as the acting director. The move follows Dr. M. Srinivas's appointment as a full-time member of NITI Aayog. According to an office memorandum, Dr. Tandon's new responsibilities are effective immediately and will last for six months or until a permanent director is appointed.
Dr. Tandon, a distinguished endocrinologist and the head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, will continue his current roles alongside his new administrative duties. Notably, he will not receive any additional remuneration for this assignment. His expertise in cardio-metabolic diseases and diabetes care has been widely recognized both nationally and internationally.
The transition comes as AIIMS Delhi navigates leadership changes while maintaining its commitment to healthcare excellence. Dr. Tandon's involvement in various public health and research initiatives highlights his suitability for the role during this interim period.
