Around 40 passengers from a cruise ship plagued by a deadly hantavirus outbreak disembarked on the island of St. Helena, according to Dutch officials. The incident occurred following the death of a Dutch passenger during the voyage.
Notably, among those who left the ship were the wife of the deceased Dutch man, a South African woman now hospitalized, and a Swiss man also receiving treatment. This information was disclosed by the Dutch foreign minister, Tom Berendsen, in a letter to parliament.
The situation remains uncertain as authorities have not confirmed the current locations of the disembarked passengers.
