A shocking incident unfolded in Odisha's Kendrapara district when Anant Jena, suffering from chest pain, mistakenly received an anti-rabies injection at a primary health centre. This occurred due to a mix-up with another patient who was supposed to receive the vaccine, according to hospital officials.

Feeling dizzy and nauseous after the injection, Jena quickly informed the pharmacist about the mishap. Realizing the mistake, the pharmacist took immediate action by transferring Jena to the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital for proper medical evaluation and care.

Despite the oversight, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sahu assured that the anti-rabies vaccine is safe, and Jena did not suffer any serious adverse effects. The incident occurred amidst a busy situation at the health centre, compounded by a visit from a review team, he added.
