India on Alert: Suspected Ebola Case Sparks National Quarantine Measures

A Ugandan woman has been placed in quarantine in Bengaluru, India, due to a suspected case of Ebola. This development could mark India’s first detected instance of the virus since 2014, if it is confirmed.

The move comes shortly after India's Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda assured that no Ebola cases had been reported, even as more than 900 global cases have arisen according to WHO, of which 101 have been confirmed.

India is instituting stringent health measures at key entry points, and the India-Africa Forum Summit has been postponed. Meanwhile, citizens are advised against non-essential travel to Ebola-affected areas like Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
