Jordan confirms six new coronavirus cases

Jordan's Ministry of Health on Sunday said that the kingdom has reported six new cases of the deadly novel coronavirus. Among the new cases is an American tourist who arrived from Egypt.

In light of the rapid global developments and the emerging COVID-19 threats, Prime Minister, Dr. Omar Al-Razzaz on Saturday announced a series of preventive measures including suspension of public events and gatherings, a tighter lockdown that closes all borders and bans all incoming and outgoing flights as of Tuesday.

Other preventive measures include shutting down of all educational institutions for a period of two weeks and closing of tourist and archaeological sites, sports clubs, cinemas, and youth centers.

The kingdom had previously reported only one case of the virus.
