PTI Suspends Sher Afzal Over Policy Violations

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has suspended National Assembly member Sher Afzal for repeated breaches of party discipline. The decision followed a meeting with imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan. Afzal had previously received warnings and a show-cause notice for making controversial statements damaging to the party.

Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has suspended Sher Afzal, who was recently elected to the National Assembly, citing repeated violations of party discipline, according to local media reports. The suspension follows a meeting between PTI members and the incarcerated former Prime Minister.

A senior party leader explained that Marwat had been consistently disregarding party rules over the past month. During the meeting with Imran Khan, it was unanimously agreed that no leader, irrespective of their position, is above the party's discipline. Should any leader cross the party line, they will face similar consequences, as reported by ARY News.

Previously, on May 11, the PTI issued a show-cause notice to Marwat for violating its code of conduct. The notice, from the PTI's central secretariat, accused Marwat of making 'irresponsible statements' that compromised the party's reputation and interests, despite clear instructions from Imran Khan.

The notice stated that Marwat had strained relations with other PTI members and stakeholders through his words and actions. He was asked to provide a written explanation within three days to avoid disciplinary action. Failure to provide a satisfactory response would result in further action, as per party rules.

Marwat, known for his blunt and controversial remarks, has previously clashed with several PTI leaders, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz. On May 9, following orders from Imran Khan, Omar Ayub announced Marwat's expulsion from PTI's core and political committees due to repeated warnings being ignored.
