The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has inaugurated ten new speech therapy centres across six governorates in Egypt, aiming to benefit 643 young men and women with disabilities. This initiative is a significant outcome of the cooperation protocol signed last November with the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports under the "Bridges of HopeHolding" programme, supported by ADQ.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, praised ZHO and ADQ for supporting people with disabilities in Egypt. He highlighted the free services offered to integrate these individuals into society and ensure they lead dignified lives. The Zayed Higher Organisation continues its efforts to empower people of determination and their families, enhancing their role in society.
Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary-General of ZHO, emphasized that the newly launched centres mark progress in providing care and therapeutic sessions for beneficiaries in six Egyptian governorates. This effort is part of a broader protocol to transfer expertise and support families through counselling programmes and the development of additional speech therapy centres. The project aims to address various disabilities, including autism, speech problems, hyperactivity, and learning difficulties.
These initiatives include workshops organized by social workers and speech therapists to help families handle challenges they face, along with programmes for psychological and social support. Equipped with modern tools and devices, the centres are designed to provide comprehensive services, from speech therapy to behavioural modification and skill development. By the end of 2024, 30 speech therapy centres are expected to be established across Egypt.
