Pakistan's ruling party, the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) displayed inconsistent signals towards the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Saturday. While the leaders proposed peace talks, they also criticized PTI, as reported by The Express Tribune.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar declared the government's intention to ban PTI and initiate treason charges for dissolving the National Assembly during a no-confidence motion in April 2022, according to The Express Tribune. The Supreme Court had recently pronounced PTI as a parliamentary party, making it eligible for reserved seats.
Despite the offer of dialogue from Federal Minister Musadiq Malik, Minister Amir Muqam accused PTI of advancing a foreign agenda, supported by U.S. legislation. PML-N's Irfan Siddiqui further demanded PTI leader Imran Khan to confess to alleged crimes, including inciting military rebellion and attacks on installations. Later, Malik refuted the claims of extending peace talks, citing previous opportunities given to PTI.
