Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Air India has announced the immediate suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 8. The airline shared on social media that they are closely monitoring the situation and providing support to passengers with confirmed bookings. The safety of guests and crew remains their top priority.
The decision follows heightened regional conflicts, notably the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. On July 31, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed Haniyeh's death due to a projectile hitting his residence. Haniyeh had been in Iran for the swearing-in of President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian.
Additionally, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) confirmed the killing of Hamas military wing commander Mohammed Deif in the Gaza Strip and senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in southern Lebanon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remarked that the nation has delivered crushing blows to its enemies, underscoring the volatile situation in the region.
