The United States is increasing its military presence in West Asia, with additional fighter jets and Navy ships set to be deployed, according to a statement from the US Department of Defense. This move aims to bolster Israel's defense capabilities in the face of threats from Iran and Iranian-backed militias, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced on Friday.

Washington is also amplifying its readiness to deploy more land-based ballistic missile defense systems. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has commissioned additional missile defense-capable cruisers and destroyers to the US European Command and US Central Command regions. These measures come after discussions between President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where Biden reaffirmed his commitment to Israel’s security.

The Pentagon is adjusting its military posture to enhance US force protection and support Israel's defense. The USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group will replace the USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Central Command area, ensuring continued naval presence. The US also aims to de-escalate regional tensions and secure a ceasefire in Gaza, amid rising hostilities following the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
