Security agencies in India began monitoring a C-130 aircraft call-signed AJAX1431, suspected to be carrying Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her entourage, after she fled Bangladesh following ongoing violence. The aircraft, believed to be headed towards Delhi, flew close to the Indian border and was expected to land around 1700-1715 hours.
The Bangladesh Air Force plane was tracked crossing Patna and nearing the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border. Top security officials in India have closely monitored the situation, ensuring that all radars remained active. Meanwhile, in Dhaka, protests erupted with agitators setting fire to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum and the Dhaka district office of the Awami League, following news of Hasina's resignation.
Protesters also stormed the Prime Minister's official residence, Ganabhaban, celebrating Hasina's departure. Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman confirmed her resignation and announced the country's shift to an interim government during a televised address, urging citizens to maintain peace and trust in the army.
