In an All-Party meeting on Tuesday to discuss the evolving situation in Bangladesh, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi expressed serious concerns about recent developments. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar briefed leaders on the current unrest.

Jaishankar assured that the Indian government’s measures were in the national interest. Gandhi raised concerns about potential foreign involvement, particularly from China and Pakistan, questioning their possible role in destabilizing Bangladesh. The government responded that it is considering all angles in this evolving scenario.

Gandhi also highlighted the situation of minorities in Bangladesh, urging for their safety amid reports of attacks. The government ensured the safety of 12,000 Indians in Bangladesh, with 8,000 already returned. Leaders discussed the impact on India-Bangladesh relations, with Sheikh Hasina reportedly in India under NSA supervision.
