OIC Blames Israel for Assassination in Tehran, Urges UN Intervention

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has held Israel responsible for the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The OIC's extraordinary meeting in Jeddah called for immediate UN intervention and condemned Israel's actions as violations of international laws and threats to regional peace.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has accused Israel of being "fully responsible" for the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31. The OIC's extraordinary meeting in Jeddah condemned the act as a "heinous attack" and demanded "immediate and effective intervention" by the UN Security Council to uphold international peace and security.

The OIC's statement described the assassination as a "flagrant violation of international laws, the UN Charter, and a serious infringement of the sovereignty and territorial integrity" of Iran. The statement further denounced Israel's ongoing "war crimes, aggression, and genocide" against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, insisting on an end to "Israeli aggression and collective punishment" against the Palestinian people.

The OIC also urged all member states to take diplomatic, legal, and political measures against Israel, which it blamed for exacerbating regional tensions. The statement highlighted the need to respect the legal and historical status of holy sites in Al-Quds and called for immediate cessation of assistance to Israel.
