In an exclusive interview with ANI, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, disclosed that his mother never planned to leave Bangladesh and did so only out of fear for her safety. Joy revealed that Sheikh Hasina was on the verge of announcing her resignation to facilitate a constitutional transition of power via new parliamentary elections.

"She [Sheikh Hasina] had no intentions of leaving her residence. Her departure was entirely unplanned. She was set to resign without exiting Bangladesh. Even during the helicopter boarding, she was hesitant and intended to stay," Joy stated. "I persuaded her to leave, warning that if apprehended by protestors, her life would be in danger."

Joy also mentioned that Hasina was initially despondent but has now grown angry due to the ongoing violence against minorities. He stressed the Awami League's role in Bangladesh's economic growth over the past 15 years and expressed confidence that the party would reclaim power, highlighting its commitment to restoring law and order and safeguarding minorities.
