In a warm display of diplomacy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday and greeted Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong with a trademark embrace. Captured in a photograph, the two leaders shared a moment of camaraderie with their arms around each other's shoulders.

Upon landing, PM Modi took to social media platform X, stating, 'Landed in Singapore. Looking forward to various meetings aimed at boosting the India-Singapore friendship. India's reforms and the talent of our Yuva Shakti make our nation an ideal investment destination. We also look forward to closer cultural ties.' The Prime Minister, after a historic visit to Brunei, was received by Singapore's Minister for Home Affairs and Law, K Shanmugham, at Changi airport, followed by a vibrant welcome from the Indian community.

Modi was seen signing autographs and playing the dhol with the community. He later posted on X, 'Thank you Singapore! The welcome was truly vibrant.'

This evening, the Prime Minister of Singapore will host PM Modi for a private dinner, a special gesture according to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. During his visit, Modi will meet with business leaders from Singapore and several MoUs are expected to be signed, strengthening business and technological ties.

'This visit is important as it gives a major push to India's Act East policy, Indo-Pacific vision, India-Singapore economic, and technological ties,' Jaiswal noted in a video message on X. Modi emphasized plans to deepen India's strategic partnership with Singapore, focusing on advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development.

The visit coincides with recent India-Singapore ministerial roundtable meetings involving discussions on digitization, skills development, sustainability, health, advanced manufacturing, and connectivity. The discussions had included four Union Ministers from India and six ministers from Singapore on August 26.
