President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are closely monitoring Iranian missile strikes against Israel from the White House Situation Room, receiving frequent updates from national security advisors. Biden has authorized the U.S. military to support Israel's defense, including intercepting incoming missiles targeting the country.
In a significant escalation in the Middle East conflict, Iran initiated a missile attack on Israel on Tuesday. The IDF reports that all Israeli civilians have taken refuge in bomb shelters as rockets rain down. Hezbollah, angered by the IDF's exposure of their plans to attack Israelis, has launched a barrage of rockets targeting civilians.
According to the Jerusalem Post, 102 missiles have been fired at Israel, with sirens continuing to sound across the country. The IDF states that approximately 10 million civilians are under threat from Iranian projectiles.
Earlier, the IDF conducted limited, targeted ground raids against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon based on precise intelligence. These operations, located near the border, aim to neutralize immediate threats to northern Israeli communities. The IDF has acted according to a strategic plan crafted by the General Staff and Northern Command, which soldiers have been training for in recent months.
The Israeli Air Force and IDF Artillery are providing support to ground forces with precise strikes on military objectives in the vicinity. The operations, named 'Northern Arrows,' continue as coordinated by the political leadership, alongside other combat engagements in Gaza and secondary fronts.
This escalation follows recent pivotal attacks by Israel, including the killing of Hezbollah's Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, events for which Iran has pledged revenge. (ANI)
