Sharjah Consultative Council Set to Launch New Legislative Session

The Sharjah Consultative Council, under the auspices of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, is poised to inaugurate the second session of its 11th term. The council previously achieved significant milestones, conducting 12 sessions, debating draft laws, and addressing community concerns through robust member participation.

The Sharjah Consultative Council, under the patronage of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and with Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi presiding, is preparing to commence its second ordinary session of the 11th legislative term. Scheduled for October 10, 2024, the session will open at the council's headquarters in Sharjah, following the issuance of Emiri Decree No. (56) of 2024.

In the first session of the 11th legislative term, spanning December 2023 to June 2024, the council discussed numerous draft laws and key topics. These deliberations, concerning departments like the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority and the Department of Islamic Affairs, resulted in 20 actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing development and service quality across the emirate.

Significant participation was witnessed, with male and female members actively engaging in dialogue. A total of 150 contributions were made, with 144 questions posed to scrutinize community issues and governmental operations, thus bolstering transparency and legislative oversight. The council's committees held 49 meetings, including field visits, to evaluate institutional operations, yielding insights into local challenges and achievements.
