A tragic explosion in Balochistan's Harnai district resulted in the deaths of nine coal miners and critically injured seven. Officials reported that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the roadside, targeting a vehicle with miners from Swat and Shangla districts.
The Deputy Commissioner of Harnai confirmed the casualties while law enforcement officials secured the site for evidence collection. The provincial government of Balochistan, via spokesperson Shahid Rand, condemned the attack and confirmed that an investigation is underway. Initial evidence suggests that the explosive was strategically placed to maximize harm.
This tragedy follows a similar incident in Darra Adam Khel that claimed two lives. Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have expressed condolences and vowed to continue efforts against terrorism. Federal Minister for Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, also condemned the attack, mourning the loss and calling for justice.
