In Dharamshala, the Tibetan government-in-exile observed the 66th Tibetan National Uprising Day, commemorating the historical 1959 uprising against Chinese dominance. The gathering was marked by speeches from leaders, activists, and international supporters, focusing on the enduring fight for Tibetan autonomy and the shifting global dynamics.

Siri Yang Chen from the Standing Committee underscored the day's historical importance by recalling the bravery of Tibetans who, on March 10, 1959, defied Chinese military control at the Potala Palace. She called for diplomatic engagement, urging China to dialogue with Tibetan representatives.

Tibetan writer Tenjin Sundhu pointed to China's political and economic clout as persistent obstacles but noted a changing global sentiment. With the Dalai Lama advancing in age, and international dependency on China's trade now under scrutiny, he emphasized the urgency of rallying global support for Tibet's quest for independence.

The event also witnessed international solidarity. Christine Lamet from France, a veteran supporter of the Tibetan cause, spoke of her decades-long backing for Tibetans, emphasizing the importance of maintaining international pressure on China.

Tibetans worldwide celebrated with hope, as many foreign countries voiced support, urging China to engage in dialogue with the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile. The commemoration featured parades and performances, underscoring the significance of this day in Tibetan history.
