The Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Saksham arrived at Port Victoria, Seychelles, on a three-day goodwill visit to fortify maritime cooperation and enhance regional partnerships, according to the Indian Coast Guard's statement. The crew is set to engage in professional exchanges, including high-level meetings, joint training, and sports events with Seychellois counterparts to boost interoperability and mutual learning.
In line with India's outreach initiatives, NCC cadets aboard will participate in a Walkathon and beach cleanup, aligning with the 'Puneet Sagar Abhiyan' for environmental sustainability. Additionally, ten Assam Rifles personnel are on board under the Indian Coast Guard-Assam Rifles affiliation program, fostering interagency collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Following Seychelles, ICGS Saksham is scheduled to visit Madagascar to continue its overseas deployment, enhancing diplomatic ties and Coast Guard collaboration in the Indian Ocean Region. This mission underscores India's dedication to maritime security and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, or 'the world is one family,' showcasing strong maritime alliances with Global South nations.
