Oladipo stretchered off with serious knee injury

Indiana guard Victor Oladipo hurt his right knee and was removed from the court on a stretcher during the Pacers' 110-106 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday in Indianapolis. The Pacers issued a statement calling the injury "serious," adding that Oladipo is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Thursday. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the team fears Oladipo needs season-ending surgery.

Indiana coach Nate McMillan said postgame, "It is a serious injury, and we'll know more after the MRI. We're not going to speculate. It's a tough situation. That kid has a beautiful spirit about him. He has always been one to try and to lift us up. We've got to lift him now." Oladipo had four points, three rebounds and one assist before exiting with 4:05 left in the first half. He fell in the lane while defending against Raptors forward Pascal Siakam.

"I didn't see what happened," Siakam said, according to ESPN. "Watching the replay, he stuck his leg while he was falling. That's when he hit me. It's just an unfortunate situation. It's really scary, it's tough." Oladipo, the Pacers' leading scorer at 18.8 points per game, missed 11 games in November and December due to right knee soreness.

Before that injury, he was averaging 21.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists. His current production is still better than his 17.5-point career average. Even without Oladipo for most of the game, Indiana earned its third win in a row and its fifth in six games.

"Our hearts are hurting right now for Vic, but we've got to keep going for him," Pacers guard Darren Collison said, according to the Toronto Sun. --Field Level Media
