Report: Bucks C Maker seeking trade

Milwaukee Bucks backup center Thon Maker has told the team he wants to be traded somewhere he can get more playing time, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday. After starting 34 games as a 2016-17 rookie and averaging 16.7 minutes per game in 2017-18, Maker has averaged just 11.7 minutes in 35 games (zero starts) this year in coach Mike Budenholzer's first season with Milwaukee.

The 21-year-old is averaging 4.7 points and 2.7 rebounds for the Bucks, who have the NBA's best record at 35-12 entering Sunday's game at Oklahoma City. According to the ESPN report, Maker's agent Mike George and Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst have discussed trade scenarios in recent weeks that would make sense for both sides. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 7.

The 7-foot-1 Maker, the No. 10 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, will be eligible to negotiate a rookie contract extension this offseason. --Field Level Media
