Outcry Grows Over Disappearance of Baloch Student

Baloch student Mahjabeen Baloch remains missing one month after her alleged forced disappearance, raising alarm among activists and human rights organizations. According to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), state agency personnel took Mahjabeen from Civil Hospital Quetta without presenting her in any legal proceedings.

Nasrullah Baloch, VBMP Chairman, highlighted that Mahjabeen's detainment, without a warrant, mirrors the ordeal of her brother Younus, who was also detained by security forces. "Neither sibling has been presented in court, marking a severe human rights violation," he said, urging the Balochistan and federal governments to act for their safe return.

Sabiha Baloch of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee criticized the state's handling of dissent and called enforced disappearances a grave injustice. Amnesty International condemned Mahjabeen's abduction, stressing the need for prompt investigations and adherence to Pakistan's international human rights commitments.
