Educated at Delhi University with a master's degree in history, Doraiswami has served in significant diplomatic roles across the world, including prime postings in Beijing, New York, and Johannesburg. His language proficiency in Chinese, French, and Korean is expected to aid in fostering better diplomatic relations between India and China.

Throughout his career, Doraiswami has held pivotal positions—such as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister and head of the SAARC Division—and coordinated key global summits. His interests include sports, fitness, and jazz music, illustrating a versatile personality suited for international diplomacy.
