India's Swift Evacuation: 2,361 Citizens Safely Repatriated Amid West Asia Conflict

The Ministry of External Affairs has successfully repatriated 2,361 Indian nationals from Iran amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. This includes students and fishermen, facilitated via Armenia and Azerbaijan. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed gratitude to Armenia for their assistance during the evacuation, following military tensions in the region.

India's Ministry of External Affairs disclosed on Friday that a total of 2,361 citizens, including students and fishermen, along with three foreign nationals, have been successfully repatriated since conflict erupted in West Asia.

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal indicated during a media briefing that the returnees predominantly traveled from Iran through Armenia and Azerbaijan. Notably, the evacuation aligns with a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States, effective since April 8.

Subsequent to these efforts, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed an additional 312 Indian fishermen were evacuated via Armenia, acknowledging the pivotal support of Armenia in aiding the safe passage of Indian nationals.
