The incident began with the alleged intrusion of 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen at the event's security checkpoint, triggering a swift response from law enforcement and the Secret Service. According to CNN, Allen is a resident of Torrance, California, who works as a teacher and video game developer.
In the aftermath, Washington DC’s Interim Police Chief Jeffery Carroll confirmed that the suspect was armed and exchanged fire with officers before being apprehended. Allen, who remains in custody, faces charges of firearm use during a violent crime and federal officer assault.
